Durarara!! addpermalink

Ikebukuro West Gate Park is basically Durarara without the supernatural aspect to it. So "good guys" from the public dealing with gang activity, and so on.

Banana Fish addpermalink

Well, Banana Fish is way much better than IWGP, but if you look for something about gangs, underground life etc. than IWGP should do the job too. Well, while Banana Fish takes place in New York, IWGP takes place in Japan, so do not wait for gun fights.

Tokyo Revengers addpermalink

The shows a fundamentally different - but share similar topics: Gang-culture, Delinquents, Responsibility, Friendship/Peer-Pressure. Both depict the power structure and struggles of Gangs in Tokyo's Toshima-ward (Ikebukuro) and follows an MC who's 'inside' while retaining an 'outside' perspective. Instead of following a lifestyle, both MCs get involved for the sake of others.

Gangsta. addpermalink

The same underworld theme where gangs rule and action is involve. But, while IWGP were good gangsters in Gangsta, the MC's involve were merely dogs to the big gangs.

Both series are about delinquents group with leaders trying to work around each other in the same city. Main character is more or less standing outside these groups and is kinder, in a way, and trying to assist all. A lot of violence and good morals being shown afterwards.

JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken Part 5: Ougon no Kaze addpermalink

both series deal with "honorable" young gangsters, the two deal with topics such as mafia, drugs and interpersonal relationships. The big differences are: jojo takes place in italy, has superpowers and the way Giorno controls things is with force, in IWGP it takes place in japan, has no superpowers and Makoto does things in a more "peaceful" way.

Kamisama no Memochou addpermalink

Fugou Keiji: Balance:Unlimited addpermalink

The characters are practically the same people, however, in Ikebukuro West Gate Park (IWGP), the MC tries to solve problems only when it occurs in their set/area/neighborhood. Main characters Makoto (Haru) and Takashi (Daisuke) are statically the same people, however IWGP is about gangs and warring factions, where as Fugou Keiji is a detective/crime based genre. Each still focuses on learning the truth and to clean up the streets within their respective areas.

Durarara!!x2 Ketsu addpermalink

Both anime are about different gangs with charismatic leaders traversing the dark underworld in Ikebukuro which is a commercial and entertainment district located in the specialized Toshima Ward in Tokyo. Both anime also have a similar feel in terms of tensions and conflicts between rival gangs and between friendships as well. Thanks for reading,-Tooru25

Hataraku Saibou addpermalink

At first these anime don't look similar at all. But upon closer examination we can see that IWGP is a didactic anime disguised as a series of loosely linked adventures, just like Hataraku Saibou -although less explicitly. The similarities end here though: where IWGP talks about present-day Japanese society, HS teaches us about our body. But if you like this type of narration, I suggest you to give a chance to Hataraku Saibou because I found it funnier and overall more enjoyable than IWGP

Tokyo Tribe 2 addpermalink

Both are about gangsters who protect their territory. Both MCs is a childhood friend of the boss.

Kabukichou Sherlock addpermalink

IWGP is about gangs and Kabukichou Sherlock is about private detectives, both are episodic by most part, and share general concept - townsfolk seek help from these "handymen" with troublesome requests that can prove difficult to deal with in regular legal ways.

Akudama Drive addpermalink

Akudama Drive is not as similar in setting to IWGP buy AD has a lot of fights (well choreographed), interesting characters, and has a linear plot.
